The officer on the left is the Medical Officer, the other is
unidentified, both with the 1st Battalion, King's Own Royal Regiment, Korea,
1953/54. Ian Thomas recalls (in May 2014) that the battalion had a
visit from a Bishop at one stage of the tour. In the Officers Mess
the Bishop expressed to the doctor his grave concern about the number of
soldiers consorting with Japanese girls on their R & R leave in Tokyo.
He had heard the figures was as high as 65%. The doctor replied "Och,
Bishop, That's Nothing. Over 85% of the soldiers have VD!"
