Regimental Rolls

General Service Medal Awards to King's Own Royal Regiment, excepting the GSM 'Palestine' to 2nd Battalion.

 

Private Thomas Henry Holt number 3702439 6 King’s Own (as number 32703) served in India from 23 Dec 1916 to 17 Aug 1917. Served in Kifri, Mesopotamia from 18 Aug 1917 to 15 Nov 1920. Received GSM with bar ‘Iraq’ show as with the 2nd King’s Own in Aug 1926. Medal issued Feb 1931.

Private A Walden number 34007 KO attached to 1/5 East Sussex Regiment. Received GSM with bar ‘Kurdistan’ issued in 1933. Shown on 2nd King’s Own Roll.

Private Frederick Ralph number 3706258 2 King’s Own. Served in Basrah between 26 Nov 1919 to 25 Jul 1920 and received GSM with bar ‘Iraq’ for service with Royal Engineers Inland Water Transport.
Medal roll dated 31 Mar 1926.

Private Godfrey Baigent number 390770 2 King’s Own. Served in Basrah 3 Oct 1920 to 25 Apr 1921 and received GSM with bar ‘Iraq’ for service in 3rd Dragoon Guards as number 390770 attached to the 53rd Combined Field Ambulance from 8 Sep 1920 to 25 Apr 1921. Medal roll dated 31 Mar 1926.

Private E Merrell number 3702015 2 King’s Own. GSM with bar ‘Iraq’ issued for service with 2 KO attached to the 33rd Divisional Signal Company, as number 28211. Medal roll dated Aug 1924 but noted to have left the service.
Private Charles Mansfield number 7040969 1 King’s Own. Received GSM with bars ‘Iraq’ and ‘North West Persia’ for service with the 1st Bn Royal Irish Fusiliers as number 32502. Serving with 1st King’s Own in 1923.

Private John Bridger number 7040970 1 King’s Own. Received GSM with bars ‘Iraq’ and ‘North West Persia’ for service with the 1st Bn Royal Irish Fusiliers as number 32503. Serving with 1st King’s Own in 1923.

Sergeant J W Hambidge number 3513767 King’s Own. Received GSM with bars ‘Iraq’ and ‘North West Persia’ for service with the 2nd Bn Manchester Regiment as Sergeant number 89078. Serving with King’s Own in Aug 1923.

Colour Sergeant J Hamilton number 3701418 2 King’s Own. Received GSM with bar ‘Iraq’. 2nd King’s own as number 9185, attached to 31st Divisional Signals Coy. In 1924 shown on strength of 2 KO Rangoon, but at the Signal Training Centre and Depot, Jubbulpore, India.
