The Soldier


Accession Number: KO2217/01

The Soldier
Rifle: Short Lee Enfield Rifle, Make IV, with bayonet.
120 Rounds of .303 small-arms ammunition
Entrenching tool
Water bottle
Haversack containing both emergency and the day’s rations
Pack containing:
great coat
a woollen shirt
two or three pairs of socks
a change of underclothing
a housewife
a towel
a cake of soap
a holdall in which was a knife, fork, and spoon, razor, shaving brush, toothbrush and comb.
Strapped on the top of the pack was the blanket roll wrapped in a waterproof ground sheet, and hanging beneath the canteen in its khaki cloth cover.
