Dunkirk Kit Bags

Private John Lyle/Private Robert James Richer – Dunkirk Kit Bags

 


Photograph of kit bag named to Private John Lye or Lyle, number 900078, of the 8th Battalion, King’s Own Royal Regiment. The kit bag was found in the 1990s in an area to the south east of Dunkirk. Private Lye later transferred to the Manchester Regiment on 16 Jul 1941.

Photograph of kit bag named to Private Robert James Richer, number 770415, of the King’s Own Royal Regiment (serving with them between 16 Feb 1940 and 13 Feb 1941). The kit bag was found in the 1990s in an area to the south east of Dunkirk. The markings for Private Richer are temporary, the more permanent markings on the kit bag are to J Jones, number 5671251, Somerset Light Infantry.
