Collections - Medals Hara Mura Star Lieutenant Colonel R H Taite, whilst in command of the Hara Mura Battle School in Japan, instituted the 'Hara Mura Star' which was awarded to those who he felt deserving. Colonel Taite was at Hara Mura between 1952 and 1954 and was in charge of training of many Commonwealth soldiers. The medal was awarded to those who he thought deserving, although his son suggests that it was awarded to the various Commanding Officers of the units attending the school, "more for fun than anything else." The six pointed star is based upon the Second World War stars and includes a burning grenade and the Latin motto: "Experto Crede" which translates to "Believe one who had had experience in the matter."
