Lance corporal Albert Bamber

Lance corporal Albert Bamber, number 242417, 5th Battalion, King’s Own Royal Lancaster Regiment.  Originally enlistment on 27th January 1911 and discharged on the 26th January 1916. He re-enlisted on the 25th July 1916 into the 5th Territorial Force Reserve Battalion, King’s Own.


1st/5th Battalion King’s Own group photograph taken in France or Belgium, possibly 1916, but more likely to have been earlier. Including Omar Steel, MM, extreme right of the second row.

“All Warrant Officers, NCOs and Men on leave who stay in London over six hours must report to No. 3 Southampton Street, Strand, WC2, or at No. 46 Grovesnor Gardens, Victoria, SW1, where their passes will be stamped. Any soldier found in London after six hours whose pass has not been stamped will be immediately returned to his unit.

Ballot Paper Envelope, 1918 for the Parliamentary Election held after the war had ended.  This was send from Lancaster to Lance Corporal Albert Bamber, who had moved on the from the King's Own to the Labour Corps by this time.  All soldiers who were absent from their local areas were listed and ballot papers sent to them where they were serving.
