Soldiers of the Regiment

Warrant Officer Class 2 Harry Hewson

Warrant Officer Class 2 Harry Hewson, number 5321, King’s Own Royal Lancaster Regiment.
Died at the age of 96 years on 12th August 1973, at the Infirmary, Royal Hospital, Chelsea.  Harry was a native of Manchester, born at Hollinwood, orphaned at the age of 4 and brought up by his uncle.  He left school at the age of 13 years and enlisted at 17 years of age into the King’s Own in 1897 and served in Malta and India. He took part in the Great War and served with the Regiment until 1918, attaining the rank of Warrant Officer Class 2.
