The Island of Leros - 1st Battalion, King's Own, 1943

Visited in the 1970s by the relatives of Private Redman these photographs show what the Greek Island of Leros, the scene of a bitter defeat of the 1st Battalion, King's Own Royal Regiment in November 1943.

Private Henry John Redman, number 3910341, 1st Battalion, King's Own Royal Regiment was killed on on Leros between the 12th and 16th November 1943.  Age 29 years he was the son of Mr and Mrs Henry John Redman, and husband of Lucy Amelie Redman of Rotherhithe London.
