55th West Lancashire Division Graves Registration Fund


Enamel grave identification badge of the 55th West Lancashire Division.

Grave Marker of the 55th West Lancashire Division from the collection of Lieutenant Thomas Henry Pritchard MC of the 1st/4th Battalion, King's Own Royal Lancaster Regiment.

An example of the disc can be seen on the grave of Captain Albert Ellwood.

An appeal for funds was made across the North West of England and to all the regiments within the 55th Division, which included the King's Own Royal Lancaster Regiment, King's Regiment, Loyal Regiment, South Lancashire Regiment and Lancashire Fusiliers.

Letter dated 30th August 1918 to Lieutenant Colonel Balfour, Commanding 1st/4th Battalion, King's Own Royal Lancaster Regiment in France, from Captain Parsons, Officer Commanding, the Territorial Force Depot, King's Own Royal Lancaster Regiment and Member of Committee, 55th West Lancashire Divisional Graves Identification Fund.
The pencil note indicates that a cheque for £10 10 shillings was sent on 12th November 1918.
