The Great War
Centenary - 1917
Accession Number: KO3013/69
From Front Line to
White Lund
1917 started with battalions of the King's Own Royal Lancaster Regiment
serving on the Western Front in France and Belgium; in Salonika (or
Macedonia); and Mesopotamia, today's Iraq. There were still
battalions at home, continuing their training and sending drafts of men
to those units overseas. At home in Lancaster, Morecambe and the
surrounding district much of the local effort, from welfare committees
to massive factories, were all working in support of the war effort.
