Private W James, number 23696, D Coy, 1st/4th King’s Own, was sentenced to death for ‘Deserting His Majesty’s Service on 21 Aug 1918. Sentence was commuted to 7 years penal servitude and confirmed by General Officer Commanding 1st Army, 4 Sep 1918. The above soldier to be committed to Prison. (Tried by Field General Court Martial)
Private G Manley, number 42344, C Coy, 1st/4th King’s Own, was sentenced by the Commanding Officer to 23 days Field Punishment Number 1 for “When on Active Service” making an improper reply to a Non Commissioned Officer. Date 16 Sep 1918.
Lance corporal R Travis, number 12347, 1st/4th King’s Own, D Coy, was deprived of Lance stripe by Commanding Officer on 16 Sep 1918 for “When on Active Service – 1. Neglect of duty as NCO in charge of Ration party. 2. Falling out from a working party without permission.
Private F Dowey, number 37339, 1st/4th King’s Own, was sentenced to 10 days Field Punishment Number One by Commanding Officer on 17 Sep 1918 for “When on Active Service” dirty on 9 am parade. C Coy.
Private H Cheney, number 40969, Private W Porter, number 11285, and Private W T Kells number 29348, all of C Company, 1st/4th King’s Own, were sentenced to five days Field Punishment Number One and ordered to pay for deficiencies for “When on active service” losing by neglect Iron Rations. 17 Sep 1918.
Private W H Postles, number 37715, Private F Norbury, number 244524, and Private J Rush number 38642 all of C Company, 1st/4th King’s Own, were sentenced to five days Field Punishment Number One and ordered to pay for deficiencies for “When on active service” eating Iron Rations without permission from an officer, 17 Sep 1918.
Private A Spibey, number 19363, was ordered to pay for deficiency by the Commanding Officer on 17 Sep 1918 for ‘When on Active Service’ leaving his Iron Rations at home whilst on leave.
