Letter 20 May 1876 to Colonel Hooper of 2nd Battalion King’s Own from Army Purchase Commission

“Sir, It having been notified to the Army Purchase Commissioners that His Royal Highness The Field Marshal Commanding in Chief has approved of your retirement from the Services, I am directed to inform you that the estimated value of your commission, as per Statement annexed is £2300; and I am to request that you will be good enough to state, in reply to this communication, whether you are willing to accept the amount in question, which will be paid to you through your Regimental Agent, on your retirement being carried out.”
