Return to Lancaster of the Cadre of the 2nd Battalion, King's Own Royal Lancaster Regiment, March 1919.  The battalion was the first to return to Lancaster.  The official welcome was held outside Lancaster Town Hall in Dalton Square, Lancaster.

1st/5th Battalion, King's Own Royal Lancaster Regiment

         
Watched by the Mayor of Lancaster, Councillor William Briggs OBE, and the Corporation, the Cadre and Colours of the 1st/5th Battalion, King's Own Royal Lancaster Regiment, parade in front of the Town Hall on their return from Germany via Ireland on 17th October 1919.  The Commanding Officer, Lieutenant Colonel W G Hoare, DSO, stands to the left of the two mascots, Johnny, a white pony given by the 2nd Battalion, and Joey, an Indian mule found at Ypres in 1915.

Return of the Cadre of the 1st/5th Battalion, King's Own Royal Lancaster Regiment, who had spent time in Ireland after they had left Belgium in the summer of 1919.  Officers of the regiment are joined by the Mayor of Lancaster, Councillor William Briggs, and the Mayoress, Mrs Mary Briggs.  The officer stood between the Mayor and Mayoress is Captain Noel Briggs, their son.  Captain Albert Hodgkinson, the Quartermaster, is stood on the right.  Photographed on the steps of Lancaster Town Hall 17th October 1919.
