Ensign 30 December 1819. Lieutenant 1825. Captain 1826. Major 1838. Lieutenant Colonel 1845. Colonel 1854. Major General 1860. Lieutenant General 1868. General 1876. Colonel of the King’s Own 21 Nov 1876 from 45th Foot, with whom he had served in the 1st Burmese War. Died at Torquay, 30 August 1890. Son of General John Hodgson.
