Roll of Honour of Soldiers of the King's Own Royal Regiment, Lancaster, who died between 1945 and 1959.

The Commonwealth War Graves Commission commemorates all soldiers of the regiment who died in World War Two, 1946 and 1947.  The list below is compiled from The Lion and The Rose, the regimental journal, and other non-official sources.

Private L Bench. Killed in road accident Winter 1946/7 in England.

Sergeant Joseph Boswell. Died in Hong Kong, 1st January 1954, as a result of a motor vehicle accident.

Private G W Braithwaite. Died in Halifax October 1958.

Rifleman Daniel Brown, MM, number 3711805.  Reported missing in Korea 4th May 1951 later listed as killed in action.  From Lancaster.  Served with the 2nd Battalion in Burma in 1944 where he was awarded the Military Medal.

Major Dennis George Carter.  Royal Army Pay Corps, formerly King’s Own Royal Regiment.  Died at Devizes Hospital, as a result of a motor vehicle accident, 29th November 1952.

Private William J Chalkey, number 22870856.  Drowned whilst bathing in the Imjin River, Korea on 7th May 1954 whilst serving with B Coy 1st Battalion, King’s Own Royal Regiment.

Corporal R Cole-Wilken, number 5824864.  Died 25th February 1952 whilst serving with the 1st Battalion King’s Own Royal Regiment as part of the British Army of the Rhine, stationed at Osnabruck, Germany.

Lance Corporal William Connolly, number 22534396.  Died in Hong Kong as a result of a motorcycle accident 12th June 1955.

Major Joseph Curtis, King’s Own, adjutant and quartermaster of the 1st Battle Camp, Kington, Herefordshire.  Died 3rd December 1946.  Buried in Hereford Cemetery.

Lieutenant John Edward Davies, number 311853.  Accidentally killed at home by a souvenir grenade 28th August 1945.  Died age 27 and buried in Rochdale.

Rifleman W O Davies, number 3712680.  Killed in Action in Korea whilst attached to the 1st Battalion Royal Ulster Rifles, 3rd January, 1951.

Fusilier A E Eastham, number 22278484.  Died of wounds 25th January 1952 whilst attached to the 1st Battalion, Lancashire Fusiliers at Ismailia, Egypt.

Temporary Major Eric Arthur Freeborough.  Employed as Superintendent Malayan Police, 1947/8.  Killed in Action Malaya 12th April 1949.

Acting Captain David Claude Harper.  Accidentally killed whilst climbing at Kalyan India 23rd October 1947.

Corporal W E Hearne, number 11426818.  Died suddenly as a member of Regimental Depot Staff, Bowerham, Lancaster.  11th March 1954.

Warrant Officer Class 2 B Hornby, number 3382748.  King’s Own Royal Regiment died 31 Dec 1950 in Malaya.

Sergeant E H Jones, number 3717892.  King’s Own and later Royal Army Service Corps.  Died 14th July 1957, aged 45 at Chester.

Private Ronald Louis Langford, number 14841519.  Died of smallpox at Cawnpore, India in May 1947.

Sergeant R G B Woodward.  Accidentally killed as a passenger in a Unit Carrier returning from Sennybridge Ranges, South Wales.  17th June 1954.
